A litter of three pups were born to our neighbors dog in Sri Lanka and we set out to make sure they were medically cared for during their first year of life.
The mama dog had not been sterilized and she gave birth to several puppies - for their first month of life they lived inside the bush being watched over by their mom. Our neighbors made sure the mama dog had plenty of food and water and she was being looked after very well.
Once the pups became a bit bigger we took them to the clinic for a checkup and their first round of vaccines. We made sure they were wormed and had skin meds to keep them bug free too. After the visit to the clinic we took them back home to be with their mom!
6 weeks later we took the pups (who were slightly bigger!) back to the clinic for their next checkup and second round of vaccines. The 3 pups were healthy and happy!
On August 8th the pups went back to the clinic for the 3rd and final time and completed their vaccines. We were so excited that they were able to receive the full 3 courses of vaccines. With the medication and treatment they have received we are hopeful they will lead long and healthy lives in Sri Lanka!
